REGULATIONS
Organizers: SIMBA Trainers – FIDE Endorsed Academy
Playing Venue: G C School of Careers, Nicosia
Participation:
Open to all children aged 4 until 20 who have a FIDE ID. To obtain a FIDE ID please contact your chess federation / chess club / chess academy.
The players will play in separate tournaments according to the SIMBA Trainers Categories System (https://simba-trainers.com/chess-categories) which they have previously received categories in online SIMBA Trainers categories tournaments or according to their FIDE rating. The organizing committee can allow some players to participate in a higher category. We will have the following tournaments: Category V, Category IV, and Categories II & III combined. Players with a FIDE rating over 1300 will be accepted directly to Category II tournament.
There will be a separate chess tournament for players under 6 years of age (Born on 1.1.2015 and later) called Young Lions Chess Tournament.
In case of not enough players in a category (less than 8 players) the organizing committee may combine categories.
System of play: 7 Rounds Swiss-System (pairings will be made using Swiss-Manager). For the Young Lions Chess Tournament we will most probably be decreased down to 5 Rounds Swiss-System.
Time control: Each player will have 10 minutes for the whole game + 3 seconds increment from move 1.

Prizes:
Three winners in each tournament get unique Christmas themed trophies, prizes and certificates, also in each category tournament there will be special medals for best players (boys and girls) in each age category (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, and U20). Players who qualify for the next category will get an additional special category achievement certificate.
To qualify for category IV a player should get 60% points in category 5 tournament – it means 4.5 points out of 7.
To qualify for category III and II a player should get 75% points in their relative category – it means to get 5.5 points out of 7.
All participants will receive small Christmas presents and certificate of participation.
Tie-breaks:
- Direct Encounter
- Buchholz Cut-1 (In case of 5 rounds – this Tie-Break is not valid)
- Buchholz
- Sonneborn Berger
- Greater Number of Victories
- Greater Number of Victories with Black (This Tie-Break will only be used in case of 5 rounds being played instead of 7)
ATTENTION:
Players will be allowed to register up to 15 minutes before the beginning of the 1st round if there are still spaces available. All the participants registered after this time (10.45am) can play starting from the second round if there are still places available.
Entry Fees
- Players registered at the day of the event at the venue – 20 Euros
- Players registered online in advance with online payment – 15 Euros
- All the SIMBA Trainers FIDE Endorsed Academy Members – 7.50 Euros when registering online or 10 Euros when registering at the venue. (Contact your chess trainer for your discount code)

PAYMENT: For online you may pay with any credit card. At the venue we accept payment either in cash or credit card.
