At ChessFest Cyprus, we believe in fostering a respectful and enjoyable environment for all young chess enthusiasts. We expect all participants to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
- Sportsmanship: Show respect for your opponents, whether you win or lose. A handshake before and after each game is a sign of good sportsmanship.
- Fair Play: Play the game honestly and according to the rules. Do not cheat, use unauthorized assistance, or engage in unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Respect: Treat fellow participants, organizers, and spectators with kindness and respect. Avoid any form of disrespectful behavior, including taunting or inappropriate language.
- Respect for the Venue: Treat the tournament venue with care and consideration. Keep it clean and follow any specific venue rules.

- Anti-Discrimination: Discrimination of any kind, including racism, sexism, or any form of prejudice, will not be tolerated. Our event is inclusive, and we expect participants to embrace diversity.
- Focus: Maintain focus during your games and avoid disturbing other players. Keep noise levels to a minimum and stay seated during your matches.
- Follow Instructions: Listen to tournament officials and follow their instructions promptly. They are here to ensure a fair and smooth tournament.
- Punctuality: Be on time for your matches and events. Delays can disrupt the schedule for everyone.
- Accept Defeat Gracefully: Understand that losing is a part of the game. Accept defeat with grace and use it as an opportunity to learn and improve.
- Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Remember to stay hydrated and have a light snack to maintain your focus and energy during the tournament.
- Keep a Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude, even in challenging situations. Chess is a mental game, and a positive mindset can make a difference.
- Enjoy the Experience: Above all, remember that chess is a game meant to be enjoyed. Have fun, make new friends, and create lasting memories.
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in consequences, including warnings, penalties, or disqualification from the tournament.

For Accompanying Persons (Family Members, Friends, Trainers, and Spectators)
At ChessFest Cyprus, we believe in fostering a respectful and enjoyable environment not only for our young chess enthusiasts but for all individuals who are part of our chess community. We recognize the invaluable role that family members, friends, trainers, and spectators play in supporting and encouraging our participants. To ensure that our event remains inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone, we kindly request that all accompanying persons adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
- Respectful Support: As an accompanying person, your role is to support and encourage the participants. Show respect for all players, coaches, and organizers, regardless of the outcome of their games.
- Quiet Support: While watching games, maintain a respectful and quiet demeanor. Avoid any behavior that may distract or disturb the players. Keep noise levels to a minimum.
- Anti-Discrimination: Discriminatory behavior or comments, including sexism or any form of prejudice, will not be tolerated from accompanying persons. Be inclusive and respectful of all individuals.
- Compliance with Venue Rules: Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the rules and regulations of the tournament venue. Help keep the venue clean and orderly.
- Positive Role Model: Set a positive example for the participants by demonstrating good sportsmanship and respect towards opponents, organizers, and other spectators.
- Supportive Environment: Create a supportive and welcoming environment for young chess enthusiasts. Encourage fair play and a love for the game.
- Respect Organizers: Follow the instructions of tournament officials and cooperate with them to ensure a smooth tournament experience for everyone.
- Enjoy the Event: Remember that ChessFest Cyprus is a chance for all involved to enjoy the game of chess. Make the experience memorable for the participants and yourself by focusing on the joy of chess and camaraderie.
- Report Any Issues: If you witness any violations of this Code of Conduct, please report them to tournament officials promptly.
- Zero Tolerance for Sexist Behavior: Just like the participants, we do not tolerate any form of sexist behavior from accompanying persons. Please maintain a respectful and inclusive atmosphere at all times.
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct for Accompanying Persons may result in consequences, including being asked to leave the venue.
